The SBU CI officers stopped reconnaissance and subversive activity by FSB agent that provided military information to the enemy, and tried to blow up a critical infrastructure facility located in Rivne region.

The SBU officers found that in May 2020, a resident of Odesa region deliberately established contact with a FSB officer. Following curator’s tasks, he provided information about one of the military facilities of Odesa region to FSB. The offender proposed the FSB to murder Ukrainian servicemen involved in the JFO.

In September 2020, the curators assigned the FSB agent a new task, in particular, to sabotage at one of the facilities of water services company Rivneoblvodokanal.

The SBU CI officers detained the offender immediately after he planted an explosive device.

Due to sabotage, almost 50% of domestic and industrial consumers in Rivne and other regional districts could suffer from water supply interruptions. This would lead to negative consequences in the economic, social and sanitary-epidemiological spheres of the region.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee of high treason and sabotage is being settled. The type of detention is being chosen.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Rivne region.
