SBU CI officers detained a Russian FSB agent in Zhytomyr region. Following the instructions of the Russian special services, a local resident collected intelligence about military units in the region.

The SBU documented that the agent instructed by the Russian curators had to make a video of two military units and gather information about the military leadership, including compromising data, as well as to establish the residences of servicemen.

In particular, the offender prepared a scheme of locations of military units and checkpoints. He had to transmit data via electronic channels.

During searches of the agent's place of residence, law enforcement officers seized means of communication with Russia’s FSB representatives. The detainee has admitted his cooperation with the Russian special service and provided the necessary evidence of his illegal activities.

SBU investigators served the offender a suspicion notice of high treason. The issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.

Urgent investigative actions are underway.

The transfer of such information to the Russian special service jeopardizes Ukraine's national security in the field of defense. In addition, the disclosure of information collected poses a threat to the lives and health of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families.
