SBU CI detains Russia’s FSB agent for spying (video)

SBU CI officers exposed and detained an agent of Russia’s FSB, who was collecting defense intelligence.

The SBU established that an official of a Mykolaiv strategic enterprise was recruited by the FSB and tasked to collect information on modern military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

SBU CI officers documented that in order to gain access to technical documents of the latest developments, in particular confidential UAV programs, the offender tried to recruit a head of a scientific institution.

The SBU detained the agent red-handed during controlled transfer of "secret data".

The offender received a suspicion notice for treason. Terms of detention are being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
