In Kirovohrad region, the SBU CI officers detained a citizen of Ukraine who participated in an organized criminal group in Russia and was recruited by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

Having returned to Ukraine, the offender, by order of Russian curators, collected information on local officials and military personnel, in particular, discrediting evidence, data on their trips to Russia and the temporarily occupied territories, family ties, property, etc.

Russian special services used the gathered information to create conditions for the departure of the said individuals to Russia or the occupied territories, their further detention and involvement in confidential cooperation.

For money, the offender passed the intelligence through a closed communication channel.

During the search of the offender’s residence, the law enforcement seized means of communication, Sberbank cards and ID cards of Russian municipal and commercial companies.

The detainee was served a suspicion notice for high treason, and custody was chosen as a type of detention.
