SBU CI detains Russia’s FSB assets
SBU CI exposed two Ukrainian citizens recruited by Russia’s FSB. The suspetcts were collecting restricted data on Ukrainian Army’s readiness and combat support.
The SBU documented that the assets were tasked to obtain secret documents, in particular, on effectivity of new samples of weapons and military equipment used during ATO/JFO. Also, they were tasked to get to know about combat support and rearmament perspectives of Ukrainian Army units. To implement the tasks, the FSB assets tried to recruit a reconnaisance officer of a military unit, offering him money.
SBU CI officers and investigators detained Russia’s FSB assets during the staged transfer of “secret” documents and their further transfer to Russia’s curators via the previously agreed channel of communication. The operation was conducted in accordance with the Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The detainees are facing charges of high treason.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
