SSU CI detains spies and prevents leaks of military secrets (video)

In Kharkiv, the SSU CI exposed a foreigner and a citizen of Ukraine who worked for special services of a state in East Asia. They were detained ‘red-handed’ having received secret files.

According to findings, the foreigner has been engaged in espionage activities in Ukraine for a long time aiming to gather military intelligence.

The spy established contacts with Ukrainian experts in this area, attempting to involve them as confidential informants.

The investigation identified that the offender recruited a citizen of Ukraine to collect secret information for monetary reward.

The searches led to the seizure of communication devices, computers, flash drives, documents and other items, which will be examined to identify if there is more evidence of illegal activity.

The foreigner has been notified of suspicion of espionage. His accomplice, a citizen of Ukraine, has been notified of suspicion of treason. Holding in custody was chosen as a measure of restraint for both offenders. Investigation is underway.

The SSU carried out the operation under the supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
