The SBU CI officers exposed and detained “LNR” terrorist in Kharkiv region.

The operatives established that the citizen of Ukraine on his own initiative began cooperation with the Russian terrorist forces, which occupied part of the territory of Donbass. Serving in the so-called Donbass People’s Militia, the offender intimidated civilians of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region. Also, the perpetrator took an active part in hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian military formations involved in the anti-terrorist operation.

During the attack against the positions of the Ukrainian military unit, the terrorist was wounded, received treatment in the territory of the aggressor country and decided to stay in Russia. He hoped to obtain Russian citizenship. Instead of a Russian passport, he received a prison term for illegal drug trafficking. After serving his sentence, he returned to Ukraine.

During the searches of the perpetrator’s residence in the suburbs of city of Kharkiv, the law enforcement found and seized RGD-5 and RGO grenades with fuses.

The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion of participation in the activities of a terrorist group or terrorist organization and illegal handling of ammunition and explosives is being decided.

The investigation is ongoing to establish offenders’ possible reconnaissance or subversive activity.
