Luhansk region: SBU CI detains IAF militant
In the JFO area, SBU CI officers found and detained an IAF militant, who took part in the shelling of the Ukrainian military units’ positions.
The SBU operatives established that he took part in hostilities against the ATO forces, being an infantryman of the so-called "Cossack National Guard of the Great Army of the Don Perevalsky Garrison" and “4th Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps of the LNR People's Militia”.
Allegedly, the perpetrator joined the IAF while serving a sentence for committing a serious crime in one of the penitentiary institutions in the region. In return, he was released from the colony.
Subsequently, the militant fled to the territory controlled by Ukrainian authorities, where he settled near the deployment of Ukrainian Armed Forces units near the contact line.
He was served the notice of suspicion of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and participation in paramilitary or armed formations not provided by law (P. 2 Art. 110, P. 2 Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court chose custody as a form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Luhansk region.
