During a special operation in Kyiv, the SSU CI detained a so called DNR militant who in 2014 killed wounded ATO servicemen.

Moreover, the militant conducted reconnaissance to carry out artillery shelling of positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Kyiv, SSU officers detained the militant in a hostel, where he arrived from temporarily occupied Crimea.

SSU established that the militant was a resident of the separatist held city of Donetsk. In 2014, he joined the so-called Oplot battalion. As a member of a reconnaissance group, he took an active part in counteraction to the ATO forces.

The detained militant was served a notice of suspicion.

The investigation into his participation in the terrorist group is ongoing to establish all circumstances and prosecute other involved individuals.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor General`s Office of Ukraine.
