SSU CI detains traitor who helped Russia with annexation of Crimea

In Kherson region, the SSU CI officers detained the so-called deputy director of the international airport Simferopol, captured by Russia. He helped Russian troops to take control of the airspace over the annexed Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

In 2014, the perpetrator took part in the seizure of Ukrainian strategic locations on the peninsula, as the the international airport and the regional division of Krymaerorukh.

Allegedly, the detainee is the former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2011, he was recruited by the Russian special services and received the passport of Russian citizen.

During the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula, the perpetrator was a member of the illegal armed formation of the so-called Crimean Self-Defense.

Currently, the detainee served the suspicion notice for high treason and the creation of unlawful paramilitary or armed formations. The type of detention has been chosen.

A pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity and to bring to justice all the persons involved in crimes against the state security of Ukraine.

The operation was carried out jointly with the Main Department of the National Police in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city.
