On November 4, the international NGO Conflict Armament Research (CAR) published the report ‘Weapons of the War in Ukraine. A three-year investigation of weapon supplies into Donetsk and Luhansk’.

230-page document presents a significant array of facts, which are irrefutable evidence that illegal armed formations use weapons and military equipment of Russian origin on the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

This is the first report of Conflict Armament Research, which is the outcome of cooperation with the SSU Counterintelligence Department that started in 2018.

The aim of this project is to present to the international community objective and unbiased information on the origin of weapons in the East of Ukraine.

For the first time, the report covers in detail a large amount of data on Russian-made weapons and ammunition. CAR teams have studied dozens of types of small arms and ammunition, anti-personnel mines, grenade launchers and MANPADS.

The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also actively supported CAR in collecting and analyzing data for the document.  

The SSU will continue to cooperate with the MFA of Ukraine to disseminate evidence of illegal supply of weapons and military equipment from Russia to the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Conflict Armament Research, established in 2011, is empowered by the EU to collect, generalize, and analyze data on the origin of weapons and military equipment used in areas of armed conflict in various regions of the world.
