In Cherkasy region, the SBU cyber specialists exposed a hacker who remotely installed software in order to steal information from smartphones.

Allegedly, the offender appeared to be a resident of Uman city. He was looking for the clients via personal connections. For money, he provided the “clients” with unauthorized access to the smartphones of the “objects of surveillance”. The offender used malicious software that allowed illegal wiretapping and control of communication in popular messengers.

The law enforcement documented the fact that the hacker installed such a tracking program on a smartphone of a local IT specialist on request of the IT specialist’s competitor.

During the search of the suspect's residence, the law enforcement officers seized computer equipment with malicious software and draft records proving the illegal activity.

The offender was served a notice of suspicion upon the fact of creation of malicious software for the purpose of use, distribution and sale.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the supervision of Cherkasy Region Prosecutor's Office.
