The SBU exposed a head of a city united territorial community of Chernihiv region on bribe-taking.

Allegedly, the official demanded money from a representative of a local company, engaged in construction and repair works. For UAH 630,000 (USD 22,340), the suspect, who lost the local elections, promised the contractor to resolve the issue of concluding a contract for the capital repair of a sports complex for the community.

Law enforcement officers detained the official in his own car after taking the full sum of bribe.

The issues of serving a notice of the suspicion to the detainee and choosing a type of detention by the court are being settled.

Within the criminal proceedings upon the fact of bribe-taking, the investigation is ongoing. The possible involvement of other officials in illegal activities is being established.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in Kyiv city under the supervision of Chernihiv Region Prosecutor's Office.
