Chernihiv region: SBU exposes alienation of land owned by National Academy of Agrarian Sciences
In Chernihiv region, the SBU prevented illegal land alienation of a state enterprise of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
Allegedly, in 2017 a research institute submitted documents to the Main State Geocadastre Department in Chernihiv region in order to register a land plot (total area is 128 hectares).
During the further transfer of the land for permanent use of the institute, the cadastral registrar had made unauthorized changes to its configuration.
In the interests of private agricultural producers, the official artificially reduced the area of the plot almost twice. Such actions allowed the alienation of 52 hectares of the experimental farm’s land and its transfer to private ownership.
Within the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted searches of the offender’s residence and office. During the investigation, the SBU seized computers, draft records and electronic keys to access the State Geocadastre databases, which were attached to the case file.
The investigation is carried out under Part 3 of Art. 362 (unauthorized actions with information processed in electronic computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on the media of such information, committed by a person who has the right to access it) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and to identify other people involved in illegal scheme.
The operation was coordinated by the SBU Main Directorate for CI Protection of the State Economic Interests jointly with the SBU Office in Chernihiv Region, the National Police, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
