The SBU exposed illegal disposal of hazardous industrial waste on the territory of a united territorial community of Chernihiv region.

Allegedly, the representatives of the enterprise, which produces cardboard and paper products, organized illegal export of waste to avoid the expenditures on recycling. To do this, they entered the fictitious agreements with commercial structures for the transportation and disposal of used industrial materials.

The SBU established that the offenders removed industrial waste to the territory of the village of a individual territorial community of the region.

The law enforcement officers found an illegal dumps containing almost 500 tons of waste from the enterprise.

Within the criminal proceedings, the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case and to bring guilty persons to justice upon the fact of violation of environmental safety rules. Measures are also taken to oblige the entrepreneurs to safely dispose the detected waste.

At present, there is no threat to the citizens’ health.  

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police.
