The SBU exposed an official of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region on taking bribes.

Allegedly, the head of the traffic safety department of the National Police was trying to establish a corrupt scheme for receiving bribes from representatives of logistic companies.

The offender offered a head of a logistic company to pay a monthly “fee” in the amount of UAH 40,000 (USD 1450). For these money the policeman promised not to bring the businessman to administrative responsibility for transportation of the cargoes exceeding the established norms of mass.

The expensive coverage of local highways suffered from the offender’s illegal activity.

The law enforcement detained the perpetrator on a city street while taking a bribe.

The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion of taking a bribe is being resolved. A type of detention is being chosen.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in Poltava, the internal security unit of the National Police under the supervision of Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
