Dnipropetrovsk region: SBU detains leader and members of dangerous group

During the special operation in Dnipropetrovsk region the Security Service of Ukraine detained the leader and four members of an organized criminal group, that threatened and tortured civilians. The powerful arsenal of weapons, including machine guns, mines and explosives was seized from the attackers.


During the searches, the SBU officers confiscated 4 AK-47 submachine guns and 16 magazines, 3 RPG-26 anti-tank grenades, 8 TNT boxes, plastic explosive, 11 hand-held rocket launchers, Degtyarev and RPK-74 machine guns, 2 MON-50 and OZM-72 mines, 4 grenade launchers VOG-25, 3 PPSh submachine guns, an artillery round, 20 rifles, 5 Makarov pistols, an RKG-3 grenade with a fuse and almost 4,5 thousand rounds of ammunition for automatic firearms.


Also 28 shells for RGD and F-1 grenades, 15 UZRGM-2 hand grenade fuses, a pump-action rifle, 7 bulletproof vests, 4 smoke bombs, 9 flares, license plates and documents for various cars were found.



The criminals kept their arsenal in the leader’s garage.


In addition, computer equipment, ‘black’ accounting records with the evidence of illegal activity, as well as a significant amount of cash was exposed.


The issues of serving the notice of suspicion to the detainee and choosing the measure of restraint are being solved.


The investigation is ongoing on illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives and torture. 


The operation was conducted jointly with the Management of the Criminal Investigation of the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
