The SBU exposed two senior officials of Mariupol interdistrict institution of the regional consumer societies union and the Donetsk Regional union of consumer goods on receiving a large-scale bribe.

Allegedly, the officials demanded over UAH 2.5 million (USD 90.000) from a representative of a local real estate firm. For this amount, the offenders promised to give the entrepreneur the right to purchase warehouses at the cut price. These warehouses were on the balance of the consumer union.

Law enforcement detained both officials in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in Mariupol on taking the full sum of bribe.

The issue of serving the offenders suspicion notices and choosing a type of detention is being resolved.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for bribery of an official, legal entity of private law, regardless of the organizational and legal form, the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offense.

The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
