The SBU exposed the Head of a Department of the Kramatorsk District Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk region on bribery. The official extorted money from a local farmer for closing criminal proceedings for illegal land acquisition.

The prosecutor estimated the closure of the proceedings and non-prosecution of the farmer for the unauthorized occupation of land at UAH 50,000 (USD 1,800). The official also promised not to create further obstacles for the farmer to conduct business.

The law enforcement officers jointly with CSO A caught the prosecutor red-handed in the office receiving all amount of the bribe.

The operation is ongoing to bring to justice the perpetrator for the illegal opening or use of currency accounts outside Ukraine and taking a bribe.

The pre-trial investigation is underway, other possible facts of the corrupt actions of the perpetrator are being checked.

The operation was carried out jointly with the territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Kramatorsk under the supervision of Prosecutor General's Office.
