Khmelnytskyi region: SBU exposes head of village council on land fraud
The SBU exposed a head of a village council of Izyaslav district of Khmelnytskyi region on extorting money for the land allocation.
Allegedly, the official demanded USD 15,000 from a local resident for allocation of land plots to a private owner. The total area of the land was almost 10 hectares. For money, the offender promised the man not to create artificial obstacles and to ensure a positive decision at the session of the village council on preparation of technical documents for the land.
The law enforcement detained the perpetrator within Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving the whole amount of illegal benefit.
The issues of serving the offender a notice of suspicion of bribe-taking and choosing a type of detention are being settled.
The investigation is ongoing. In particular, the involvement of the suspect in other frauds with community lands is being checked.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Department of Strategic Investigations and the Main Department of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi region under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
