Kyiv region: SBU prevents sale of 150 kilo of α-PVP
In Kyiv region, the SBU detained an organizer of a drug gang. The gang was trying to establish a scheme of wholesale production and sale of psychotropic drugs.
Allegedly, four residents from different regions are involved in the scheme. In a rented facility the offenders set up a high-tech drug laboratory for the production α-PVP.
The drug dealers planned to sell their products via numerous dealers in the region.
The perpetrators planned to make the first batch of drugs in the amount of 150 kilo.
During the searches of the drug lab, law enforcement officers seized almost 800 kilo of precursors, 20 kilo of ready-made products and high-tech equipment for the manufacture of banned substances.
The estimated value of the seized “goods” at black market prices is almost UAH 5 m. (USD 175,000).
The SBU detained one of the organizers of the scheme.
Currently, the offender was served a notice of suspicion of illegal production, stockpiling and distribution of drugs, psychotropic, substances and their precursors. A type of detention is being chosen.
The article of Criminal Code of Ukraine provides up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation is ongoing to document and prosecute other members of the organized group.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv Region under supervision of Regional Prosecutor's Office.
