Within countering the illicit arms trafficking and munitions, the SBU officers found a cache with artillery shells in Starobilskyi district , Luhansk region.

The cache was arranged on the outskirts of the Ternove village near private houses. According to intelligence, the shells were illegally transported from Novoaidarskyi district in 2014, in particular, after Russian shelling of the Armed Forces positions near Pobieda village.

The SBU officers seized 16 artillery shells of 152 mm calibre with 136 kilos of  TNT. Allegedly, the offenders planned to sell TNT to local criminals.

The seized shells are defused.

The operation was conducted jointly with the State Emergency Service and the National Police.
