Luhansk region: SBU detains member of sabotage group involved in blasting of bridges

The SBU detained a former member of the subversive group of “LNR” the terrorist organization, involved in the bombing of infrastructure facilities in Donbass region.

Allegedly, in June-July 2014, a resident of Severodonetsk was a member of the sabotage group “Bergman” (“German”). SBU officers documented that this group blew up five bridges in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, and mined four more. During 2018-2020, the SBU detained active members of the group and, in cooperation with the National Police, liquidated several of their caches.

Only one of the saboteurs was hiding from Ukrainian justice in Russia for six years.

Law enforcement established that the offender planned to arrive in Luhansk region on personal business, and detained him after arrival to Ukraine.

The former militant received a suspicion notice of committing a crime. He was taken into custody.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the National Police under the legal supervision of the Luhansk Region Prosecutor's Office.
