Lviv region: SBU suppresses drug gang involving police officers
The SBU blocked activity of an organized drug gang. It involved active and former employees of the Lviv District Police Department, in particular a division deputy head.
According to the pre-trial investigation, the offenders sold amphetamine, alfa-PVP and heroin in the city. They searched for clients through personal contacts. The SBU officers documented several cases of selling drugs to local residents. In addition to financial interest, the police officers in such a way demonstrated efficiency of their official activity.
The law enforcement officers detained three offenders. Terms of detention and serving of suspicion notices within criminal proceedings are being considered.
The pre-trial investigation into illegal sale of drugs, taking a bribe, forgery in office, prosecution of a knowingly innocent person is ongoing.
The searches of offenders’ offices and residences are taking place. Urgent investigative actions are underway.
The operation was carried out by the SBU jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation in Lviv, under the supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
