In Lviv region, the SBU exposed customs officials involved in illegal import of foreign vehicles to Ukraine.

Allegedly, customs officers jointly with the representatives of affiliated commercial and customs brokerage entities set up the illegal scheme of trucks’ import. They entered to the databases false information about VIN codes and license plate numbers.

Allegedly, such illegal activity caused damage to the state amounting to almost UAH 17 million (USD 598,000).

During the searches at offenders’ offices and residences, law enforcement officers found documents, flash drives, draft notes and money confirming illegal activity.

The investigation is ongoing within the criminal proceeding, initiated for abuse of authority or office, in order to bring the offenders to justice.

37 illegally imported trucks were seized with a ban on their disposal.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv city under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor's Office.
