In Odesa region, SBU documented grain exporters on multi-million tax evasion.

Allegedly, the scheme was organized by a businessman from Odesa city. To cover up the illegal activity, he set up several bogus firms, the corporate details of which were used for foreign trade operations. The suspect bought grain for cash from local agricultural producers and supplied it to foreign companies without entering the data needed into tax records.

As a result, the state budget suffered more than UAH 4 million (USD 142,858) mandatory payments.

Criminal proceedings were initiated upon the fact of forgery in office and tax evasion.

Currently, the organizer of the scheme was served a notice of suspicion of commiting the crime. Investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the case are ongoing.

The exposing operation was carried out jointly with Main Directirate of the State Fiscal Service in Odesa region under the supervision of Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
