Ivano-Frankivsk region: SBU exposes officials of state vodka enterprise on large-scale sale of unaccounted alcohol

In Ivano-Frankivsk region, the SBU uncovered officials of a state enterprise on illegal production and sale of unaccounted alcohol.

Allegedly, the scheme was in effect during 2020. The officials bought grain for cash from local producers and did not entered such information into the official documents. Then, they manufactured an unaccounted alcohol. An incision was made to unload illegal alcohol to an element of the industrial complex. Thus, the offenders pumped out circa 40 tons of alcohol per month.

Ready products were taken out of the enterprise at night by the plant's vehicles. Illegal alcohol was stored in several rented warehouses. They sold alcohol to public catering establishments and via retail chain.

The law enforcement officers detained a truck while transporting 19 tons of unaccounted alcohol. During the searches at plant and warehouses, the operatives found another 4.5 tons of unaccounted alcohol products and equipment used for illegal alcohol selection. The total value of the seized products is over UAH 6 million (USD 210.000).

The proceedings were initiated upon the fact of unlawful manufacturing, storage, sale or ransportation for selling purposes of excisable goods.

The investigation is ongoing. All persons involved in the scheme are being identified.

The operation was conducted jointly with the tax police of the State Fiscal Service under the procedural supervision of Ivano-Frankivsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
