Rivne region: SBU prevents sale of grenades and explosives
The Security Service of Ukraine uncovered a cache in the Rivne region, from which RPG-26 anti-tank grenade, more than half a kilogram of trotyl and plastid, detonator capsules, four RGD-5 and VOG grenades, a pistol and revolver, and 780 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The cache was found in a forest near the town of Kostopil. Allegedly, a local resident, who had been convicted of serious crimes, set up this cache. The perpetrator, being under investigation in other criminal proceedings, tried to sell the hidden weapon and ammunition through representatives of criminal circles.
Currently identified weaponry is sent for examination.
The issue of serving the notice of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives is being established.
Investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the offense and bring to justice other persons involved in illegal activities. Information on the misappropriation of military weapons from the JFO area is being checked.
The operation was conducted jointly with the police under procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office.
