In Zaporizzhia region, the SBU exposed crop misappropriation by a subsidiary company of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

Allegedly, officials of the farm enterprise conspired with a business corporation. From 2016, they concluded agreements on harvest sale without consent of the Academy.

The investigation established that businessmen purchased agricultural products at the price of seed and resold at market price. According to experts, public losses total almost UAH 20 million (about USD 707,000).

Searches of offenders’ offices and residences revealed accounting documents and other incriminating evidence.

The legally removed CEO was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation and neglect of official duty.

The investigation is ongoing to prosecute all those involved.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police officers under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
