SBU refers indictment against Russia’s FSB agent to court
In September 2020, SBU CI detained a Russian FSB agent on attempt to commit sabotage at a critical infrastructure facility in city of Rivne.
SBU investigators completed the pre-trial investigation under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Region Prosecutor's Office. The law enforcement referred the indictment upon the fact of high treason and attempted terrorist act to court.
Allegedly, in May 2020, a Russia’s FSB agent secretly cooperated with a resident of Odesa region via communication channels. Following instructions of the Russian special service, the terrorist collected and transferred information on a military facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine deployed in Rivne region.
The offender, coordinating by a Russian curator and for financial gain, tried to commit sabotage at the Rivneoblvodokanal regional water supplier. As a result, he was detained by the SBU CI officers in city of Rivne.
The perpetrator faces terms of 12 to 15 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the legal supervision of the Rivne Region Prosecutor's Office.
