SSU’s official statement on collaboration of Ukrainians with enemy

The war has once again shown that Ukrainians have no fear of anyone and are confidently approaching their victory.

The strength of our spirit is so great that even in the temporarily occupied cities thousands of people go to rallies with Ukrainian flags with no fear of invaders.

At the same time, the SSU records cases when some residents of such territories decide to collaborate with the enemy.

The SSU is officially stating: there are no excuses for such actions.

‘No such case will go unnoticed. All collaborators will be punished because that’s what they deserve! During the war, any cooperation with the enemy is treason. And for this there is criminal responsibility, up to life imprisonment!’ the SSU Head Ivan Bakanov emphasized.

In addition to Article 111 (treason), the collaborators’ actions can be classified under Articles 109, 110, 113, 258, 258-3, 258-5, 260, 263, 332-2, 345, 348, 437, 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

So far, several individuals have been notified of suspicion as their actions have harmed the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In particular:

  • Melitopol City Council member Halyna Danylchenko and several of her accomplices who are assisting Russia to organize occupation authorities in the city;
  • Kupyansk mayor Hennadiy Matsehora who defected to the enemy.

Soon other collaborators will be notified of suspicion: anyone who tarnishes the heroism of Ukrainians and helps the occupiers will get a well-deserved punishment.

Together we will win!
