We remember: SBU Academy creates videos about Heroes of Ukraine
For the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine, the SBU Academy created videos about CSO "A" officers Denys Volochaiev and Dmytro Kaplunov.
Both were killed by a mine explosion on December 1, 2019 in the East of Ukraine while performing a counter-sabotage combat mission.
The officers had dozens of rotations and performed hundreds of operations. From the very beginning of the Russian aggression in Donbas, they took an active part in criminals’ detention and confronted subversive groups and reconnaissance groups of militants who tried to cross the contact line and enter into the rear of Ukrainian troops and in peaceful regions in order to carry out terrorist attacks.
SBU colonels, Denys Volochaiev and Dmytro Kaplunov were among the best snipers of Ukraine - they won victories and prizes at international sniping competitions among the military and law enforcement agencies.
The films, created with the assistance of CSO "A" and the families of the heroes, show the life and military career of the officers. Their colleagues and relatives told what our defenders were like at work and at home, what they admired, what they wanted and how much they were willing to give for peace. In the video dedicated to Denys Volochaiev, there are excerpts from his 2018 interview, where he said that he was ready to sacrifice his life for Ukraine.
Both SBU officers were posthumously awarded the highest title - Hero of Ukraine for personal courage and heroism in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.
These stories are the next step of the project "We Remember”, by which SBU Academy honors the fallen SBU officers. Today the project includes 17 videos.
