SBU: Ex-judge M. Chaus investigation

The SBU did not "kidnap" Mykola Chaus, a former judge of the Dniprovskyi District Court of Kyiv, and acted within the law and its powers.

To remind: since May 2021, the SBU has been conducting a pre-trial criminal investigation into the abduction of Chaus and his illegal transportation across the state border.

The SBU follows the Constitution of Ukraine, according to which human life is the highest value. Thus, SBU officers performed their official duties within the relevant investigation. Any attempt to misrepresent facts is a manipulation.

To note: the other day, the SBU hotline received a message from someone claiming that a man who introduced himself as Mykola Chaus came to a village council of Vinnytsia region and asked to call SBU officers.

Later, Mykola Chaus informed SBU investigators about his abduction, imprisonment and other illegal actions against him. As a result, the SBU took measures to ensure Mr Chaus's safety.

Because of his physical and mental health after long imprisonment, he is currently receiving the necessary medical treatment. SBU investigators informed Mr. Chaus's wife about him staying in constant contact with his relatives.

The SBU is taking the necessary measures to establish all the circumstances of the abduction and imprisonment of ex-judge Chaus and to identify all involved individuals.
