Greetings of SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk on Ukraine’s Independence Day

Dear Ukrainians, colleagues, sworn brothers and sisters!

Since its establishment, the Security Service has been guarding Ukraine’s independence. All this time, we have been protecting the security of the state and its citizens with great honour and responsibility. For the third year in a row, we have been doing this amid a full-scale war.

Although Ukraine’s independence is 33 years old, our fight for it is ongoing. Thousands of Ukrainian defenders, including those serving in the SSU, are fighting for our country's right to exist. Despite the fact that Ukraine formed its borders and freedoms back in 1991, we have to defend them again. And this time – with weapons in hands.

Today, every SSU unit is showing the highest results. The Special Operations Centre ‘A’, Military Counterintelligence, operatives, analysts, cyber specialists, investigators – all are making every effort for the Victory.

Together, we act as one monolithic fist: conduct unique special operations behind enemy lines, strike enemy military facilities and logistics arteries that feed the war. On the battlefield – we destroy russian equipment, at sea – we sink warships, and inside Ukraine – we apprehend agents and traitors, and investigate russian war crimes.

The big war has changed the SSU: we became more flexible, technological and efficient. Most importantly, we are able to stay one step ahead of the aggressor.

By performing our mission daily, we bring the future Victory closer!

We remember all the Heroes who gave their lives defending Ukraine. We will continue to destroy the occupiers in order to avenge the deaths of our brothers and sisters.

In this struggle, we want one thing: to live freely and continue to build an independent Ukraine.

I wish every Ukrainian family happiness and well-being, and our country – peaceful skies, a speedy recovery and prosperity.

Victory will be ours!

Glory to Ukraine!

Yours faithfully

The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine

Lieutenant General Vasyl MALIUK
