Decision of National Security and Defense Council on new sanctions bases upon SBU materials, Ivan Bakanov
The decision to impose sanctions on individuals is based, in particular, on the SBU materials. This was stated by the Head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov, commenting on the results of the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
“Today, the SBU is conducting the investigation to document the entire illegal scheme of coal supply from the temporarily occupied territory to Russia and Ukraine. Thus, we will receive confirmation of financing of “LNR’s” terrorist activity. This will allow us to serve the company’s representatives a notice of suspicion,” said Ivan Bakanov.
The SBU also recommended to expand the previously introduced economic sanctions against the owners of airlines that flew to Russia, and to add five more companies to the sanctions list.
Ivan Bakanov explained that since the imposing of the first sanctions in late January, the final beneficiaries of the Moldovan airline JET4U S.R.L. and the Portuguese JET4U LDA have been taking urgent legal actions to circumvent the restrictions imposed on them. In particular, they are trying to change service companies – that means they are introducing other legal entities.
In addition, the Head of the SBU informed the members of the National Security and Defense Council about other areas of state security protection and hybrid warfare counteraction.
“Each of us can observe the impact of hybrid warfare and its aftermath. So we need to be proactive. In this case, our strength is in systematic actions to protect national interests,” Ivan Bakanov stressed.
