SSU exposes Dnipro businessman who wanted to bribe SSU officer offering USD 500,000
The SSU exposed a businessman from Dnipropetrovsk region on offering a bribe to an officer of the Service. For USD 500,000, the entrepreneur asked to turn a blind eye to illegal dismantling of a railway in Luhansk region.
The organizers of the scheme were a former officer of a law enforcement agency and two individuals with criminal background.
The SSU found out that the offenders decided to make money on dismantling of the abandoned railway track on the territory of Markivka united territorial community.
The dealers offered the SSU employees to ‘cover up’ the illegal business. The organizer offered to hand over USD 500,000 in parts, after each stage of dismantling of the track.
The SSU officer immediately informed the management about the offered bribe.
The law enforcement detained the offenders in a town in Luhansk region when they tried to hand over part of the sum.
The detainees have been notified of suspicion of bribery. The pre-trial investigation is underway.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation in coordination with the SSU Internal Security Directorate together with the National Police investigators under the supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
