SBU blocks 100-member interregional criminal group including former and current law enforcement officers

During the special operation, the SBU blocked the activities of an interregional organized criminal group, which illegally used technical means to secretly obtain information and control the traffic of mobile subscribers' connections. The SBU also documented the suspects’ preparation for provocations on the eve of the local elections in Donetsk region.

Allegedly, the perpetrators acted under the guise of the so-called "security and detective agency". The group consisted of almost 100 members, including former and current law enforcement officers, representatives of the criminal underworld and employees of security firms. The suspects specialized in providing "services" for illegal surveillance of citizens, participated in raider seizures, blackmailed entrepreneurs, as well as sold weapons, explosives and narcotics.

To carry out illegal activities, the perpetrators used special technical means to secretly obtain information from one of the law enforcement agencies.

During 45 simultaneous searches of the "security and detective agency" offices, the offices of operational and technical units of one of the law enforcement agencies, the suspects’ residences in Kyiv city, as well as in Kharkiv, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi cities, the law enforcement seized special means secretly obtain information, as well as ammunition, drugs, computer equipment and other media proving the illegal activities.

The issues of serving four organizers and active members of the group notices of suspicion under Articles 359, 263 and 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing a form of detention are currently being settled. Investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all members of the group.

Information on illegal shipment of the seized means of destruction from the Joint Forces operation area is being checked.

The special operation was conducted by officers of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
