Khmelnytskyi region: SSU cracks down on migrant smuggling to EU countries
SSU cracked down the scheme on illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine. On the grounds of fake documents, the offenders facilitated migrant smuggling to the EU countries, estimating their services at USD 5,000.
SSU documented the resident of Khmelnytskyi region to have organized the illegal migration. The perpetrator performed his duty as an insurance agent and due to the personal contacts found the clients.
The perpetrator provided fully organized service, including the issuance of international passports and internal passports of the EU member-countries, driver`s license etc. Fake documents were issued on ingenious forms similar to European documents.
SSU detained the offender red handed while receiving UAH 61,000 (USD 2,285) for issuance the fake international and internal passports as well as a driver`s license of Lithuania.
The perpetrator is served a notice of suspicion of illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing to prosecute those involved into illegal activity. The information on the offender’s accomplices abroad is being checked as forms of fake documents were ingenious.
The operation was carried out by the SSU and the investigators of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi region under the supervision of the Prosecutor`s Office.
