The SBU prevented smuggling of 500 grams of cocaine from a neighboring country.

Allegedly, the foreigner brought the drugs under the guise of a tourist. He intended to sale them in Ukraine. The law enforcement found cocaine in offender’s personal belongings during a customs inspection at Boryspil International Airport.

The drug was hidden in a closed can. On-site rapid tests confirmed that the substance was cocaine. The value of the seized drug at black market prices is over UAH 2,1 m. (USD 74,000).  The offender was detained.

The investigation is ongoing upon the fact of smuggling of drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors.

The operation was conducted by the SBU operative and investigative units jointly with the port control unit of Boryspil Airport, the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine under supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office.
