The SBU blocked underground production and sale of anabolic steroids and counterfeit medicines in Kyiv and Donetsk regions.

Allegedly, the criminals arranged an illegal workshop for the production and packaging of counterfeit goods in offender’s private house located in Mariupol district. The offenders produces steroids and medicines in unsanitary conditions and from the ingredients ordered online from East Asia. They sold counterfeit goods under the guise of well-known brands via telegram channel and sent it by postal service. Every month, dealers sold “goods” worth almost USD 40,000.

SBU operatives documented several sales of anabolic steroids by criminals (total sum is over USD 5,000).

Law enforcement conducted 12 searches in offenders’ residences, warehouses located in Kyiv, Donetsk and Kyiv regions, as well as in their cars. During the searches, SBU seized potent drugs worth almost USD 150,000, draft records, mobile phones, computer equipment used during illegal activities, USD 100,000 in cash and postal invoices.

In addition, operatives found counterfeit medicines of domestic pharmacological companies.

SBU initiated criminal proceedings for a large-scale illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, transportation, shipment, storage for selling purposes, or sale of poisonous or drastic substances or poisonous or potent drugs, committed by an organized group.

Urgent investigative actions and examinations are underway. The issue of serving to eight detainees notices of suspicion is being settled.

The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of Podil National Police department in Kyiv city under the legal supervision of the Kyiv local Prosecutor’s Office no.7.
