SBU blocks large-scale illegal food supplies to “DNR”
The SBU officers blocked a large-scale scheme of illegal food supply to “DNR”.
The SBU established that a group of residents of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region secretly delivered food to the addresses of bogus foreign companies. After crossing the Ukrainian state border, these goods illegally entered the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region.
According to the preliminary information, the offenders exported food products for more than UAH 8.5 million (USD 300,000) via such illegal sceheme. They payed fees and taxes on products sold in “DNR” to the budgets of quasi-state terrorist organizations.
During the searches at offenders’ premises, offices, warehouses and vehicle, the law-enforcement seized computers, mobile phones, accounting documents, draft records containing information about their illegal activity.
In terms of the criminal proceedings, the SBU detained the offenders and served the notice of suspicion of assistance to a terrorist organization. The court chose custody as the type of detention with the right to bail. The set sum is UAH 4.5 million (USD 160,150). The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to other participants of illegal scheme is being resolved.
The operation was performed by the SBU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region jointly with the SBU Main Directorate of CI Protection of State Economic Interests under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's office of Dnipropetrovsk region.
