SBU blocks new scheme of fake COVID-19 certificates production

The Security Service of Ukraine has blocked another mechanism for production of fake COVID-19 test results. The fake certificates imitated the forms of a well-known network of medical laboratories listed by the Ministry of Health.

The production of forged documents was organized by a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region who works as a doctor in a municipal hospital. He made copies of the forms of the network of medical laboratories on a computer in his office. The fakes contained a QR code and were made in two languages ​​- Ukrainian and English. The dealer "certified" them with a fake "wet" seal.

He started an illegal business in this March. He searched for clients through the online platform of free ads. The cost of the "certificate" was UAH 500.

According to medical experts, the actions of the offender could lead to a decreasing in control over the spread of the pandemic. The laboratory, the forms of which were forged by a man, is entered in the state register and has the right to transfer the COVID -19 test results to stop self-isolation through the application "Diy Vdoma". The certificates he forged, in particular, were used to cross the state border.

During searches of the doctor's place of work and residence, law enforcement officers seized a computer with forged forms.

The offender was served suspicion notice of forgery of official documents.

A pre-trial investigation is underway.

The detection of illegal activities was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region together with the Main Department of the National Police in the region under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Office.
