SSU blocks agitators’ network that operated for LNR militants from Lviv
The SSU Cyber Department has stopped the destructive activities of a network of agitators run by russian special services, which assisted the terrorist organization LNR in subversive activities against Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the propagandists followed the instructions of their supervisors from the so-called ‘LNR Department of humanitarian operations’, which is under control of russian special services.
The group disseminated fake and destructive content through Internet communities exclusively in Lviv region, trying to cover as much of the local audience as possible.
Using fake profiles in social networks and on web-sites, they justified russia’s crimes and spread pro-russian propaganda.
LNR militants ‘hired’ one of the members of the group to remotely perform the job of an IT specialist at their pseudo-directorate.
The investigation established that this person is the founder and administrator of the anti-Ukrainian community Lviv People’s Republic. This agent also prepared content for anti-Ukrainian information resources, which his russian handlers defined for him, including the VoskhodInfo website.
During the searches of the suspect’s home, the SSU found computer equipment with evidence of collaboration with the occupiers.
Basing on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under 5 articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- 109.2 (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or at seizure of state power);
- 110.2 (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
- 111.1 (treason);
- 436 (war propaganda);
- 436-2.2 (justification, recognizing as legitimate, denying russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The court has ruled to keep the detainee in custody without bail.
Other participants of the group will be notified of suspicion in absentia. The SSU is acting to bring them to justice.
The SSU Office in Lviv Region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
