SSU interrogates so-called LNR militant, who reconnoitered Armed Forces' positions under guise of demining (video)
SSU CI jointly with the Armed Forces detained a militant of the so-called LNR on the contact line. The man was armed with a firearm and reconnoitered positions, from which the Armed Forces withdrew the troops.
The militant violated the reached agreements, as he was not allowed to be in the area with weapons. His task, agreed within the Trilateral Contact Group, was to demine the neighboring area, where a new checkpoint with temporarily occupied territories is to be opened.
According to the SSU, the perpetrator is a participant of a division of the so-called 6th separate motorized rifle Cossack regiment named after Ataman Matvei Platov of the LNR People's militia.
The detainee is a native of Alchevsk and is suspected of premediated murder in 2010.
In 2014, he joined the IAF Brianka USSR. Later he served in a mortar platoon and participated in resisting ATO/JFO forces in Luhansk region. He shelled the positions of Ukrainian servicemen with mortars in Popasna and Zolote.
During the detention, the suspect carried Makarov gun with two magazines, military ID and a certificate from the Joint Center on Control and Coordination of the ceasefire and stabilization of the contact line (JCCC), although JCCC employees are forbidden to carry the weapon.
SSU investigators served the defendant the suspicion notice of the creation of unlawful paramilitary or armed formations.
The issue of choosing the type of detention is currently being resolved. The pre-trial investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions jointly with the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the supervision of the Luhansk Region Prosecutor's Office
