The SBU Main Investigation Department initiated a pre-trial investigation upon the fact of treason in the period from 2008 to 2010. Criminal proceedings were initiated against public officials.

In particular, the circumstances of preparation and signing on April 21, 2010 of the “Agreement between Ukraine and Russia on the stay of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine until 2042” and its compliance with regulations and procedures during its approval by Verkhovna Rada deputies are being investigated.

Allegedly, the signing of this document led to an increase in the number of personnel of Russian military formations and special services involved in the annexation of Crimea.

Appropriate investigative and procedural actions are conducted for the purpose of a comprehensive, complete and impartial investigation of the circumstances.
