SSU and SBI conduct searches at home of MP who went on vacation abroad under untrue pretext of ‘treating a relative’
The SSU jointly with the SBI are conducting searches at a home of another member of Ukrainian parliament to check the legality of his trip abroad during martial law.
According to the investigation, the parliamentarian travelled abroad to accompany his father for treatment in a foreign medical facility.
However, the MP’s father went to a foreign state and returned from there on his own – not accompanied by his son.
In addition, the law enforcement agencies are investigating the fact that the deputy signed official documents while he actually was not in Ukraine, which may indicate forgery.
To clarify these circumstances and provide a legal assessment of the actions, the investigation is ongoing within the criminal proceeding initiated under Articles of the CCU:
- 366.1 (official forgery);
- 362.3 (unauthorized actions with information processed in automated systems committed by a person entitle to access it, upon prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
These offences are punishable by up to 6 years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years.
The investigation is conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
