SSU and National Police detain arms dealers attempting to sell trophy grenade launchers and explosives to criminals
The SSU, together with the National Police, has prevented the sale of weapons to criminals in Poltava, Odesa and Zhytomyr regions.
As a result of the operation, the SSU detained traffickers of trophy weapons illegally exported from the battlefields near the front line.
The seized inventory include russian anti-tank grenade launchers, Kalashnikov assault rifles and explosives.
In Poltava region:
A criminal group that tried to sell an arsenal of combat grenades and automatic weapons was neutralized.
To find buyers, the offenders used contacts among criminals.
SSU officers detained an organizer and two gang members on an attempt to sell munitions.
In Odesa region:
A local resident was served a notice of suspicion for trying to sell more than 500 g of plastic explosives and devices for mines and explosives.
In addition, the perpetrator tried to sell two combat grenades and almost 5 meters of detonating cord.
In Zhytomyr region:
Three more arms dealers were exposed. The criminals offered their clients an arsenal of trophy munitions.
During the searches, suspects were seized of a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a russia-made Shmel rocket-propelled flamethrower. In addition, more than 20 combat grenades and a large number of small arms rounds were found.
Investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The seized munitions are to be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Poltava, Odesa and Zhytomyr regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
