SSU identifies 6 russian generals who gave orders to capture Ukrainian cities in Kharkiv region
The SSU, in cooperation with the National Police and the Prosecutor General’s Office, continues to expose russia’s war criminals.
As a result of an investigation, the SSU has identified six representatives of the high command of russia’s Western military district, who took part in planning, preparing and conducting military actions against Ukrainian Defence Forces on the eastern front.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they gave orders to russian troops to ‘break through’ the state border of Ukraine and storm the settlements in Kharkiv region.
These russian high-ranking officials also facilitated the creation of occupation administrations when the enemy forces seized a part of the region.
SSU investigators jointly with the National Police operatives have collected irrefutable evidence of the russian commanders’ guilt in especially grave crimes against Ukraine’s state security.
Based on the collected evidence, these commanders were notified of suspicion under the Article 110.3 (trespass against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability) and the Article 437.2 of the CCU (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging of aggressive war):
- deputy commander of the Western military district of russia, major general T.M. Trubiyenko;
- commander of the 20th combined arms army of the Western military district, lieutenant general A.S. Ivanayev;
- chief of staff of the 20th combined arms army of the Western military district, major general A.Yu. Pyatayev;
- commander of the 1st tank army of the Western military district, major general M.A. Tereshchenko;
- commander of the 3rd Vislenskaya red banner motorized rifle division of the 20th combined arms army of the Western military district, major general O.V. Avdeyev;
- commander of the 144th guards Yelnya red banner motorized rifle division of the 20th combined arms army of the Western military district, major general V.V. Sleptsov.
The SSU is carrying out comprehensive measures to bring the occupiers to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The SSU Main Investigation Department identified the suspects jointly with the National Police with the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
