SSU identifies three ruscists who set up torture chamber during temporary occupation of Mykolaiv oblast
The SSU is systemically exposing russian occupiers and their accomplices who commit war crimes against Ukrainian citizens.
As a result of an investigation, the SSU identified another three traitors involved in massive abuse of civilians in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.
The criminals are the commander of a regiment of the terrorist organization DNR and two of his subordinates.
Before the full-scale invasion began, they voluntarily joined the occupation groupings of the Southern military district of the russian armed forces and took part in warfare on the southern front.
After part of Mykolaiv oblast was captured, the regiment commander was appointed ‘military commandant’ in one of the villages of Bashtanka district.
On his orders, ruscists abducted locals and subjected them to numerous forms of torture.
The investigation documented that the invaders had illegally detained four residents of the village, including former servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the commandant’s instructions, the occupiers locked the victims in a cold utility room and a cellar without access to fresh air.
In the torture chamber, people were brutally beaten and kept in unsanitary conditions for a long time, without water and food.
In this way, the ruscists tried to force the victims to cooperate and to obtain information on locations of the Defence Forces.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the three identified individuals of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration);
- 28.2, 438.1 (violation of laws and customs of war).
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring the involved to justice.
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
