SSU shuts down 10 new schemes of draft evaders’ escape abroad

The SSU has dismantled another 10 schemes of evasion from military service.

For amounts ranging from USD 1,000 to 10,000, organizers of such schemes offered citizens their ‘assistance’ in evading mobilization and illegal travel abroad.

In Kyiv:

The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained two dealers who offered men to avoid conscription using fake documents on ‘poor’ health.

The suspects are a contract serviceman of the National Guard and a representative of a local volunteer formation.

In Kirovohrad region:

The management of Kirovohradgaz JSC has been exposed on fraud. For money, the officials fictitiously employed persons of military age at the company and provided deferral from conscription for the mobilization period.

In addition to that, the fake employees received salaries. The fraudsters embezzled almost UAH 400,000 through the scheme.

The chairman of the board and the HR department chief have been notified of suspicion under Article 191.4 of the CCU (misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office).

In Dnipro:

The SSU cyber units detained a head of a local charity organization who registered draft evaders as volunteers. In this way, they intended to travel abroad supposedly to ‘transport humanitarian aid’.

In Zaporizhzhia:

The head of a district medical and social examination commission has been detained for issuing fake disability certificates, which enabled her ‘clients’ to illegally leave Ukraine. During the searches, investigators found the suspect had over USD 100,000.

In Zhytomyr region:

The SSU exposed officials of a local company that received a defence order and had the right to defer conscription for up to 50% of its personnel.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the offenders ‘employed their acquaintances’ to the company.

In Zakarpattia region:

The SSU Military Counterintelligence shut down three channels of draft evaders’ escape abroad. Organizers of the channels offered to leave Ukraine using fake documents and bypassing checkpoints.

Two suspects were caught in the act when they were trying to smuggle a group of men across the river by boat.

In Mykolaiv:

An official of the military law enforcement service was detained for assisting draft evaders in traveling abroad using fictitious health certificates.

In Vinnytsia:

a local carrier was served a notice of suspicion for entering false information on drivers of vehicles into the Shliakh system.

Investigations are ongoing into all the uncovered facts. The SSU exposed the unlawful schemes jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
